TIDES OF MEMORY

Category:

SIZE 12” x 24”
Mixed media.

New work modelled by abstraction, using inks, acrylics and oils.

This painting portrays a woman in her later years walking alone along a quiet beach — a place where time seems both infinite and fleeting. As she moves across the shoreline, she’s lost in thought, reflecting on her life. Her memories, much like the waves beside her, ebb and flow.
Some memories crash in like powerful tides — moments that have deeply shaped her. Others are gentle ripples, fleeting but warm. Some waves are scattered, and some break even before they are formed: some vivid, others blurred, and a few tucked away in corners of the mind we seldom visit. Each one, whether joyful or painful, makes up the mosaic of her existence.

Her journey is one of remembrance, acceptance, and quiet resilience

In the stillness of the beach, surrounded by water and wind, she walks not just through space, but through time — carried forward by the tide of memory.

The painting invites viewers to reflect on their own tides of memory — how each wave, no matter how large or small, contributes to the story of their life.
