Bootsy Collins: ‘We’re all funky, just not all of us know about it”

“BOOTSY COLINS’, whose outrageous outfits would be a treat to watch on stage. His attires added fun, flamboyance, funk and helped him stand out.

Fascinated by his loud, funky, flashy attire, star shaped glasses, every piece of his clothing is like an artwork, I decided to paint him. I have been working on this canvas for a few months now, with a number of breaks in between and every moment has been a treat to paint.
It was interesting to create textures and use florescent colours. The painting was fun, ESPECIALLY HIS HAIR. Using acrylics helped me create that lovely bounce of pink hair. I loved the brushstrokes and especially the use of palette knife a complete contrast to the transparent translucent background colours.
This piece would add so much colour and drama to any room.
